No really.....WHY?!

No really.....WHY?!

There’s been a lot of Email and comments going around that we’re being “TOO GENEROUS” on our reviews lately and some of you have asked on how “WE” review games. Well, the cool thing about BC (Broken Controllers for you n00bz) is that we happily will comply and answer some of the questions you are nicely submitting (unless the questions you have sent weren’t approved by our staffs and editors).

So the big question “How do we review and Why are we “GENEROUS”?”

So let’s start by answering the first question: How do we review games?

Here at BC, we judge games on criterias the game has, for example, if the game has a story we look into it, if it’s only a multiplayer game, we judge on how it does in multiplayer. We don’t really need to tell you the story of battlefield games or rockband games since it doesn’t really matter right? But we will, in fact, mention that it has one (event though nobody cares) so here’s what we actually do:

-Story/What the game is:

We usually start off telling people the story of the game or what the game is since it’s the least important, but  none-the-less, it is part of the game. We base it on how AWESOME the story/game it is and how far would you go to play it just to find out what happens next.

-Presentation:

Now we go to how the game looks and sounds. Our Critic on presentation is based on how it affects the overall game. Is it right for the story, do the guns sound natural, is the voice-acting great, etc. etc. We DON’T Judge if the game has pop-ins and stuff because those minor things won’t really get in the way of your game UNLESS it DOES, then, we shall BITCH ABOUT IT! Hoping the developers read and see our reviews so that THEY don’t make the smae mistake again!

-Gameplay:

We always save the best for last in our reviews. Gameplay is basically “THE GAME”  since it’s what it’s made for, but the biggest things we look at is: ADDICTION and INTEREST, but what about the other stuff? Ok, ok we look into those too: Innovation, game design etc. But honestly, gamers don’t really care about those if they’re HOOKED ON THE GAME!! We mention other things, but if the game has the ability of us wanting more or have the interest for us to ACTUALLY finish it or do a 100% then HECK YEAH!

Now part 2 of the question: Why are we “GENEROUS”?

OK there’s actually a quick and short answer to this one and it’s simple: Nobody in the staff has yet the guts to play games that have a suck factor of 10. (well that, plus the fact that our budget is limited so we choose to buy games that are actually GOOD)  So for now everybody has to stomach some good games first until we can get some really horrible games going. Next thing you know, it might be tomorrow.

So there, we hope you enjoy our little segment of knowing how things work here at BC, for the people sending messages and comments, maybe sooner or later your questions might be featured and answered here for all to see!
